Help
We have made every effort to make the structure of the Prevention Forum+ (PF+) as user-friendly as possible. The website is largely intuitive to use. Nevertheless, there are some functions which differ from classical search engines and which we would like to explain to you in more detail.
If you do not find an answer to your questions here, please feel free to ask us using the contact form. We are also looking forward to your suggestions.

2. Search field
By clicking on the gear wheel to the right of the search box, the search can be set individually. The following questions are asked
How precise should the search term be?
How far apart may the search terms be?
Click on the question mark next to settings to get more information from Intrafind AG.
3. Hit page
In the upper area of the hit page you will find elements to manage the search queries.
A: Here you have the option of carrying out several search queries at the same time. Clicking on the "+" sign opens a new tab. In the example, asbestos was searched for first, then chrysotile, see screenshot.
B: The facets can be expanded or closed.
C: Different labels facilitate the search, e.g. grouping of duplicates.
Note: Users who register on the platform can also save the search query, send the search query by e-mail, export the hit list or individual hits as a csv file. Saved search queries can be retrieved later at any time via the dashboard.
The hits page can be divided into three areas.
3.1 The search results
The individual search results are structured as follows:
A: A comprehensive preview of the search result.
B: A snippet of the text passages in which the search term was found and the link to the search result.
C: Further information on the search result such as:
- Flag of the legal area
- File type
- File size
- Reference link: This shows the page on which the document is located. This function is particularly useful for videos or podcasts.
You can also translate your search result into another language using the built-in Deepl translator.
Click on the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner. Select "Translate".
Select the desired language from 30 languages and wait until the file has been 100% automatically downloaded to your computer.
Note.
The translation function works with the following file types: docx, pptx, xlsx, pdf. Older file types such as doc, xls cannot be processed/translated. The file spinner/downloader works best with the Google Chrome browser. Other browsers are still in the beta phase with regard to translation.
3.2 The facets
Facets are available to the left of the search hits to narrow down the search. These facets are:
a) Semantic search
b) Sources
c) Publisher
d) File type
e) Language
f) Persons
g) Field of law
The following applies to all facets:
When you open the respective facet, the first six filter options are displayed. By clicking on the "More filters" button, you can see all values for which there are hits. These can be selected by clicking on the checkbox and then clicking on the "Apply" button .
There is also a small search field specifically for the facets “Source”, “Publisher”, “File Type”, “Language” and “People”: Here you can enter individual sources, publishers etc. directly.
a) Semantic search
See info on iFinder:
Filtering with semantically related terms - iFinder (praeventionsforum-plus.info)
b) Sources
For Prevention Forum+ only selected search sources are used and only official sources, e.g. from the Berufsgenossenschaften (Employer's Liability Insurance Association), are considered.
The sources in which hits were found for the search term are listed under the Source facet.
c) Publisher
If you want to search all websites of a publisher in parallel, use the facet "Publisher". The relevant name is the one in the imprint.
d) File type
The name speaks for itself.
Our new speech-to-text function deserves special mention here. It also finds spoken word content in podcasts or videos, even in foreign languages!
e) Language
Many sources have information in other languages, e.g. Turkish, Polish or Romanian.
f) Persons
Our search engine recognises names of persons mentioned in the text.
g) Field of law
The facet Field of law is always expanded. You can use this facet to choose whether you need information from only one field of law or from several fields of law. This enables you to better identify the requirements of individual legal fields and compare them with each other if necessary.
Each partner selects the websites to be searched for their field of law.
3.3 The information area
The info area contains further information about the search term.
The information area is divided into the categories
Applies to all categories:
Different suggestions are displayed depending on the search query. You can search for any of these suggested terms using "further information" and the corresponding button.
For individual terms, the legal areas in which the term is used are also listed. These are marked with the respective flags.
a) Translations
We have provided translations for individual terms in the languages we use. These are shown here and help when searching in foreign language sources.
b) Topics
There are currently over 7,000 topics on occupational health and safety stored in our database and are divided into "general topics", "subordinate topics" and "related topics". Suitable terms are shown based on your search query. These should help you to refine your search and, for example, find comparable terms from other legal areas.
In the example shown, the search for "risk assessment", it is shown that the term is common in Germany and Austria, see screenshot.
c) Databases
We have created interfaces to the following databases:
- GESTIS Biomaterials Database
- GESTIS substance database
- GISchem
- WINGIS
Your search query is forwarded to these databases and the hits found there are listed in PF+.
As with the other categories in the information area, you can search for the suggested terms in Prevention Forum+. However, it is better to click on the link "search for the term in the database" and go directly to the information page of the corresponding database.
If you select a database, a maximum of 10 hits will appear. By clicking on the “SHOW MORE” button, another 10 hits can be displayed. If your result is still not there, click on the “More hits in the database” link and use the specially adapted search engines for the individual databases. This will be the case, for example, if you use a search term that is present in many records in the corresponding database, such as "oxygen".
d) Regulations
Here you will find a selection of rules on occupational safety and health protection as well as the assignment to the relevant legal area. You can see which counterpart exists in another jurisdiction. Furthermore, an interface to the DGUV publications was created under regulations . The functionality is as described under c) Databases .
e) Campaigns
We list individual key actions under campaigns. These are usually assigned to specific websites and topics.
f) Organizations
Occupational health and safety organizations in each country that match your search query are listed here.
